A few things to note for the upcoming census. :)

1) ULN checking is broken by reporting blank students as missing ULNs. Checking needs to be done manually instead of using Create and Validate in SIMS. DfE needs to fix this.

2) Schools with a sixth form may see a query that they shouldn't have one for their school type. again, DfE needs to fix this with a new manifest.

3) Check with finance that you have top-up funding recorded in the new SIMS tools (Tools - Statutory Return Tools (SRE) - Update Top-Up Funding). Also make sure SEN data is up-to-date to help track this.

4) Likewise, get together data from your relevant child welfare / safety / etc officer about which kids were in care but are now adopted or subject to residence or special guardianship orders. Update with Tools - SRE - Update Adopted from Care. I believe this is only for kids that were in care before their current situation.

5) Make sure finance have recorded 16-19 bursaries.

6) Usual FSM eligibility checks. Ask those that have expired if they are renewing their eligibility, especially new arrivals.

7) Check your census notes from your support unit and post here if you know of anything else that can catch you out!

Hi all

I think this is leavers - Census is incorrectly looking at Leavers and, when they find no ULN for them is reporting them. However, because they've left, no names appear on the error report.

DFE Is aware and have issued another manifest to ignore leavers in the process.

Capita are dragging their heels on this as the new one doesn't fix all the issues (some mentioned above).

I think they are hoping to wait and only have to issue one fileset.

I have noticed this error is blocking legitimate missing ULN errors though, I had 5 students with no ULN and they all came up blank. :)

I think everyone 14 and above is supposed to have a ULN. :(

Another heads up, Capita have reported that the FSM eligibility count is off as it is including pupils whose eligibility runs out before the census period. Another DfE fix needed.
