Alastairb25 Posted March 12, 2025 Posted March 12, 2025 (edited) Hi All, Does anyone use the Free version? We always had, and used to restore Upgraded to get onto latest platform In that time moved to Redstor for Local and Cloud, fixed £3995 per year Works well and local mirror Veeam renew came through Said we would just use it as we had done as a second Backup layer The answer came back "After the free mode expires, you’ll still be able to restore data from previously created jobs, but new job creation will no longer be available, with no support. If you’d like we can schedule a call with one of our System Engineer’s to discuss this further." We always used to use it free and don`t recall this limitation? For us just now this would be a second backup tier, hence happy to look at running it free version and use funds elsewhere, but without the ability to create a new job it would render the system pointless. TIA, Alastair Edited March 12, 2025 by Alastairb25
mavhc Posted March 12, 2025 Posted March 12, 2025 Veeam backup community edition does 10 VMs, but you have to be careful to use that specific licence, not the free trial

TIA, Alastair We have/are doing the same. I don't recall any show stoppers, biggest difference losing the ability to use Veeam Cloud Connect - but we are also using Redstor to cover this. IIRC there was some registry editing to do after the license expired (might be this https://forums.veeam.com/veeam-backup-replication-f2/revert-from-licensed-to-free-t33854.html#p185914) to revert versions. 1
