This will make for some great mods - https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/ea-releases-source-code-for-four-command-conquer-games/ar-AA1zWiId?apiversion=v2&noservercache=1&domshim=1&renderwebcomponents=1&wcseo=1&batchservertelemetry=1&noservertelemetry=1

They have released the source code for the following games:

  • Command & Conquer
  • Command & Conquer: Red Alert
  • Command & Conquer: Renegade
  • Command & Conquer: Generals

I have no idea what modders will do to them, but I expect some great additions to these classic titles coming through the pipeline later this year :)

I never played much mods but a remastered Generals would be great, playing on a modern 4K screen it is far too zoomed in (AOE2 and Starcraft remastered you can now zoom out far). Remember me and my friends playing 4 of us vs 4 brutal computer enemies

Weirdly, I find myself playing Red Alert 2 quite a bit. Primarily because I know how long a game will take (approx), so can plan around it.

And Tesla coils are tremendously satisfying :D

Wow blast from the past -used to play RA2 actually in school IT suite (don't worry as a pupil) - we had the A Level computing suite which was the only room with decent PCs. Pentium 100s - flying machines back then.

Many a good lunchtime game all of us in there, and the IT teacher used to turn a somewhat bind eye as it was better than us doing drugs stealing sweets or beating up other pupils :p
