Teams Classroom - "Shared Documents" / Any way to lock down with a script ?

Unsure how many people use "Teams Classroom" here but i have noticed the following .

 

Any member of a class has the ability to write files/folders into the "Shared Documents" or the folder within it "General"

 

I have scripts to adjust permissions within "Shared Documents/General" which work fine , But it doesnt seem to work on "Shared Documents" directory .

 

I know i can edit/change the permissions manually in sharepoint ( which i have done for our department directorys) , but when i create a lot classroom's i ideally need to script to adjust this for me .

 

In summary i need a script that can Change the "Shared Documents" area to read only for members , I imagine it will also need inheritance turned off first as well.

 

Anyone done this ?

The folder called "class materials" is setup as read only for all members accept the teacher / owner. You can also make and change other folder permissions using SharePoint.

If you look at the picture above , A "Member" seems to be able to create or upload anything into the "general" folder .

 

And if they go back a folder into "Documents" they can also put stuff in there .

 

Am i right in assuming this is the same for everyones Teams ?

yes, it is made this way. Class materials for distribution from the teacher and the General folder is a collaboration space.

 

Almost no one uses the folder this way here, they head straight for the class notebook.

Looks like i need to find a way to lock it down as i imagine it will just get filled up with rubbish from people , Especially the Root directory , as Teams defaults to the "General" folder so no one will know its even in there.
