GDPR Scanning Files

Hi- we are looking for a product that can accurately index files and search for any information related to the SAR. Currently we use windows indexing but this is slow and not always accurate from what we have found.

 

 

Can anyone recommend anything?

This won't be much help, but a very long time ago there was a company who got in touch who specialised in scanning and doing OCR on the fly (back when schools were just beginning to move from paper to digital records), so there should still be some out there still.

SearchMyFiles from NirSoft - https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/search_my_files.html is very good at finding text within a file - and lots of other stuff too.

We used it a bit ago after some of our bigger darlings decided to seed a staff share with lesson resource PDFs that caused Windows.Data.Pdf.dll to crash Windows' content classifier and lose all results during a SAR.

Ripgrep is blazingly fast and free: https://github.com/BurntSushi/ripgrep

I use it multiple times per day. My goto for searching inside files.
