Blocking O365 Copilot in Windows 10

Has anyone successfully blocked the Office 365 Copilot app in Windows 10? We have a set of users set up for exams that have no internet browsers allowed, but need connectivity to save to OneDrive via Word. Currently, these users can open the Office 365 Copilot app that shows in Start Menu and ask away.

 

I've tried the GPO for turning off Copilot (which turns Windows Copilot off OK), and setting Copilot to only be allowed for certain groups in MS Admin > Settings > Integrated Apps.

or you could try HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\ExperimentConfigs\ExternalFeatureOverrides\office MicrosoftOfficeCopilot = 0 depending on your set up.

We are just now dealing with this on some new images. I started down the rabbit hole of pushing out a powershell script to uninstall Copilot since we only run updates during the summer. The problem seems to be (from my limited understanding) that there are two instances of Copilot. One is just called "Copilot" and the other one is called "Microsoft 365 Copilot".

 

The following Poershell lines remove "Copilot":

 

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers *CoPilot* | Remove-AppxPackage -AllUsers Get-AppxProvisionedPackage -Online | where-object {$_.PackageName –like "*Copilot*"} | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -online

 

However I haven't had any luck removing "Microsoft 365 Copilot". Google and it's AI parrot say that this line will remove it:

 

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Where-Object {$_.Name -Like "*Microsoft.Copilot*"} | Remove-AppxPackage -AllUsers -ErrorAction Continue

 

But it hasn't for me. Has anyone gotten a powershell script to remove that last bit? For now just yanking it out will suffice for us.
