Friday slow down for remote working

Hi all,

 

Hope you are all well.

 

I work remotely every Thursday and Friday, Thursday's I can remote in and no issues at all. On Friday's it takes me several times to RDP to a server, the connection is slow and sluggish.

 

I don't know if it's the school end or mine, though the internet seems ok my side.

 

The school is currently using Direct Access for VPN connection.

 

What would be the best way to determine where the issue is?

I have just seen a message asking me to come in next Friday to help with a Surpass (yuck) exam. Well at least ill be able to see where the issue is.

The bbc reports that (in London) 40% of people work from home on a Friday, so it's plausible this is contention related.

I would first review your schools monitoring system to see if you can find increased use of resources.

Indeed. I WFH a fair bit these days and haven’t noticed any difference day-to-day in performance. I’m in a London commuter town and there’s a massive difference in how busy the station is on Fridays from the rest of the week…

I agree with comments above as it may be a habitual issue

You will find people wfh more on a Friday so you may suffer with increase traffic if you are on a contended connection.

 

Equally you may find your internal network has more throughput of internet traffic as well as your vpn maybe busier on Fridays

 

Running some speed test and diagnostic test on either side of the vpn maybe busier hold the answer
