APC SMX3000HV - Which Rail(s) to buy?

Hi all.

Happy Christmas. I've recently inherited an APC SMX3000HV for use at Home.

I'm unsure as to which rack rails I need to buy as this is a 4u appliance. ChatGPT/BT/Currys etc is recommending Part #SU032A. However, this is 2u set of rails - not 4u (as I think is required for the UPS).

Attached is a picture of the UPS.

Does anyone know which part(s) I need to buy?

I've got the front rack ears (as pictured) but nothing else. Installation will be in a server rack w/ correct depth required.

Cheers!

you can go expensive with this one but its still a rail kit with a small lip on each side the UPS sits on...

or the cheaper version here

or what we've done in the past is to put it on a full width shelf in the rack..?

Thanks for sharing these! (Potentially) daft question; but when it comes to mounting - how does it work w/ the spacing? Are the 2U rails really enough to hold all of that weight? I'm gathering that I mount the rails in the middle & then use normal rack screws to affix it into the front of the rack too? So it gets rail + front ears support?

Thanks for the help - appreciated.

Normally I'd have gone for a shelf; but I'm limited on Rackspace; so can't afford to loose another U (or two) on a shelf...

I don't like the rails with the little lips in each side for the UPS to sit on... as they can bow sideways and the ups falls down the middle... if there are mounting holes that secure the rails to the side of the UPS, then it negates the problem.

But as its a BIG UPS, i'd go for a shelf or some decent rails that mount to the UPS and both the front and back of the rack...

We have a 4u ups on the rails in the first post in our rack and it seems to hold ok. They are quite thick metal.

The only thing is the depth of the rack, but if that is ok then you are sorted. I did once modify a set of those with an angle grinder so the ends would slide closer together and that seemed to work ok too.
