Friez Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Hehe congrats, I got a mac not too long ago (need it for some of my game development work). Came to: Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2GB (2x1GB) RAM 1TB Disk NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB Apple Cinema Display (20" flat panel) ... and the usual peripheral gumph. No applecare though, don't need it. I should get logic on there too since I also semi professionally produce dance music too and chances are my m-audio card would work on the mac. Coincidentally, if anyone out there does maya as a hobby and would like to have a crack at working on a game as a pet project get in touch, I've got way too much work on my hands
mac_shinobi Posted August 16, 2008 Author Posted August 16, 2008 (edited) Video On YouTube Mac my black lab pedigree puppy got a bit confused as I was opening my Mac Pro Curiosity got the better of him Edited August 16, 2008 by gecko
mac_shinobi Posted August 16, 2008 Author Posted August 16, 2008 It works like a dream, it doesn't flinch when I am doing a ton of stuff and Im loving it. The only weird thing - not sure if its normal or not is front row when you open it just opens it doesnt open like it does on an imac where it swirls around as its coming up ( which I was a little disappointed about - not sure if there is a fix for that ) Other then that front row works and Am still using and playing with it - installed windows and doom 3 and that works a charm. The wireless keyboard and mouse just works for me and other then that I could do with a 24" TFT and a blu ray drive
wizzard Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 It looks a heavy thing I bet it wasn't cheap either.
FN-GM Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 It looks a heavy thing I bet it wasn't cheap either. 2 grand
wizzard Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 It does look nice though, better than my battered antec case with the side and top panels missing off it
HodgeHi Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Relocation of itunes folder: iTunes > System preferences > Advanced > General > iTunes Music folder location > Click the "Change" button. I have a 20" ACD connected to my Mac mini. I love it. It doesn't seem to hurt my eyes as much as other TFTs do. Why? i don't know, but i got mine with my Dual 1.8Ghz G5 just before it was discontinued for the next range of G5s with speed increase. All for £1100 brand new.
torledo Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 i'm digging that leather sofa in your home office, very swish....infact your office looks quite smart in general, and i normally never say stuff like this - but have to admit your puppy was very cute, especially as it was even more excited than you that the mac had arrived. ahhhh Just watch out for that leccy bill.

Right click the 'Zebra Crossing' or whatever it is on the Dock and click Dock Preferences... From there you can change various settings, the one you describe is the Magnification Slider. Adjust that to your liking and the icons will enlarge when you mouseover them. Enjoy!

No I don't mean the dock - I know about the magnify setting on the dock - what I am on about is if you have an apple remote ie you have an imac or mac mini or something along those lines then when ( at least when you used to ) launch front row whether through the apple remote or the the keyboard when it opened up front row you would see front row opening from the bottom of the screen and sliding upwards and as it slided upwards the icons would spin around until it was fully opened. Like this : where as now when you use front row on leopard it does this : which is apparently normal but would be nice to have front row open how it originally did if you see what I mean ?
kingswood Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 That's definitely by design. I actually prefer the Leopard way of doing it! Enjoy.
