Hi,

Can someone please help me from this torture on how to simply add someone to a group so that they are not getting Unauthenticated IP block from smoothwall? I have a supply teacher that recently joined us that needs to access websites for lessons but I haven't had the best of luck to do this. I have searched far and wide through the options in the firewall but I can't seem to find what I am looking for.

Also smoothwall support haven't been really helpful with me and are just sending help guides rather than telling me what tab and option I need to click on to get to the right area :/ it doesn't help either when your dyslexic and having to read countless help guides just to find out that all it is doing is explaining what certain things are and not exactly what I am looking for.

Hello Danny11717

Depends on how users authenticate to the system. Sounds like the user isn't getting authenticated at all from your description.

Is this an AD user logging into a Windows laptop and is the username a member of the correct groups in AD? In the services - authentication - directories you should be able to see group mappings from the directory so you can see which group the user should be part of.

Hi,

The user is currently logging into a chromebook when the block is happening. I can check both directories on Google and the windows AD so everything matches.

Are other users on Chromebooks getting filtered fine? If so I would assume you are using the cloud filter extension and that it hasn't been pushed to the device the user is using - that ot the secret knock isn't working for that user for some reason.

Hi,

Just had a check and the user is set in the right groups in the Google AD so that is one box ticked. I have tested it with my login on the chromebook and this is working fine when I search up the website he is trying to access so I am sure it is just his account that is having the problem. We are using both Smoothwall cloud filter and we have a an on premises Smoothwall firewall as well.

Then it looks like the cloud filter extension isn't installed on the users device. The Smoothwall on-prem filter won't know about Google logins unless the user logs in manually.
