Its pretty low overnight as you'd expect with lower usage over this cell, but it ramps every day.

It functions fine, but obviously you start pushing heavy traffic down it like I do every night and it is as you would expect, annoyingly one machine doing Windows updates can saturate the entire possible throughput too... and I do them on SL as my 8Mb ADSL is just dire for feature updates!

Hi all,

Our ISP is currently RM Broadband (which apparently uses Talk Talk) - £3326.40 P/A

Firewall is included with our broadband contract

Filtering is also with RM using RM Safety Net - £689 P/A

Total £4015.40 P/A

Many thanks

Sorry to jump on this, but I'm too am looking to move away and currently getting quotes in, etc. I don't know if you've been made aware, but RM are changing their pricing structure for RM Safety Net on a per pupil basis at £1.78 each. We're currently paying £895 total for that service so I imagine at renewal they will try and move us to that model which would be in the region of ~£2,500 for us on top of the connection charges. RM aren't committing to an actual renewal price yet as it's too early, but I do have quotes from others.

Sorry Pete I missed this reply.

Our Starlink was installed in Sept 2024, however we were also waiting to get out Network upgraded (all the APs and Switches needed replacing due to age and ergo security) and after much delay (mainly with getting all the authorisation for various purchases from the school), we finally got up and running last week.

The main headaches we have had and continue to have is with the Smoothwall Firewall and Filtering. We opted for Smoothwall because it came with a Firewall included. Tech support has been pretty reactive though when I have dealt with them, but it appears they sent us hardware without the correct OS certificates installed, which is hampering setting up additional SSIDs for guest.

Starlink has been fine, as have the VOIP (Cobalt) over Starlink.

Didn't know that RM were going to increase the costs for Safety Net, that's another saving we've made.
