Contacting and Updating RM Safety Net

Hi,

 

We use RM SafetyNet for Filtering and I need to speak to RM to make changes and get reporting sorted out, before I decide to switch to another provider.

 

I did some testing the other day with our interim IT Sp, we tried to set up an alert using me as an admin linked to my personal email adress, the IT Engineer then, did a load of searches based on self harm and suicide, but nothing came through. He was on his own device using (I think) the transparent proxy?

I tried a couple on my school Laptop using userproxy but again no alerts came through?

 

Does anyone have issues dealing with RM Safety Net.

What shortfalls are there that we need to be aware of that may held us decide to make a change.

Can anyone on here help me set this up?

Is there decryption on transparent?

 

What certificate is applied to the search engine of your choice.

 

Never used safety net, so absolutely blind, but is it a filter and monitor. Filtering isn't typically an alerting tool, more...reporting, from me at least.

As I am a teacher and not the IT Sp - you have lost me with all of the above :-)

Ah ok

On your browser, if you go to Google and search for fish, top left in the address bar to left of http://www.google.com/whatever, should be able to see something that looks like o- with -o under it, or the word Https, right click (I think) that and click connection is secure, view certificateinfo. If it's GTS or Google trust services, it's not got decryption on, which means it's impossible to see past the .com part.

We use RM SafetyNet for our filtering, but use Smoothwall Monitor for the reporting, works perfectly for us. Smoothwall monitor will report far quicker than Safetynet, but SafetyNet does a great filtering job.
