USB-C Thermal imaging camera that works as a webcam without drivers

We are looking for a thermal imaging camera that can be just plugged in to Windows or Chromebook and will work as a webcam without the need to install drivers.

Our science bought TOPDON TC004 but this required drivers and they just don't work.

I've bought FLIR TG275 assuming that the premium brand will just work, but this one just charges up when connected to a laptop.

 

Our budget is up to £1k. Our science department just needs something that can be viewed on Windows / Chromebook Camera app so it them can be displayed on the TV.

You should aim for one of the phone based ones - Infiniray do a range that will work on phone or computers - bought one a couple of years ago for my electronics repairs

We use a Flir C5 Flir have (had?) a monopoly on the hardware for a while.

 

It does a nice "mixed" image mode.

If you open a camera app on the laptop and plugin this device can you see the video there ? There should be a toggle camera option to toggle between webcam and Flir

Yes. Video straight to the camera app in Windoze. That's a snapshot taken this morning. The image was saved on the camera using the built in button, but using the app, it saves to Windows.

The FLIR stuff has always been top of the chain (at least in feasible budget terms!) - only reason I didn't get one was cost

I've got an infiray P2, but I think you get b&w images by default in a usb camera app. The colour coding is added by the android app.

 

You might be able to use the app on a chromebook though. Not tried that.

 

The P2 is small though and easy to loose. No camera mount either unless you stick it to something.

I just want to say thank you. The Flir C5 arrived today and it just works on Windows and Chromebooks. No driver needed.
