Quick MS License mA3/A5 Vs Old School Desktop OVS Packs check

Morning All,

 

From the looks of it, the Microsoft A3/A5 are the replacement for the old school Desktop Packs we purchased under our OVE/EES Based on our schools FTE count.

 

Can some one confirm weather if we purchase A3/A5 for our staff would we still need to purchase the Desktop Packs?

 

Cos from the PDFs I've read it seems like a straight swap?

My understanding is that the Microsoft 365 A3 / A5 licenses are only a replacement for the desktop licensing if your devices are Entra joined (directly or hybrid). If you are on-prem only you will still need an OVS / ESS agreement in place for Windows licensing, or if your devices are so old that don't have Windows licenses on their mainboard.
