Quizlet - Issue with signing in with Google as an 11 year old

Our MFL department use Quizlet, we are not involved other than having previously allowed student accounts to sign in to it using Google.

 

Students are instructed by their MFL teacher to sign in to Quizlet using their school Google account, when they do that for the first time they are asked for their date of birth. If a student enters a date of birth with a year of 2013, the registration process seems to just hang. A Spinner appears over the 'Sign up' or 'Sign in' button and the process never proceeds.

 

Entering a date of birth the makes the student older or even an adult seems to work without issue.

 

I haven't experimented with different dates of births but I assume the issue is going to be with students who are under 13, the sites terms and conditions state "The Service is intended for users over the age of 13, but is open to all ages. For children age 13 or younger (or other age of consent where required by local law), Quizlet offers a restricted feature set and website experience that removes certain features" so I assume something in the sign up/sign in process is different when the user is under 13. This did work at some point, apparently most of our Year 7 students signed up at the start of term without issue but any who try to sign up/in now are experiencing this issue.

 

I did hope that it would be fixed by Quizlet but this issue has existed for at least a couple of days now.

 

Other schools must use this, so can anyone confirm you see the same issue or can you confirm that it is working for you even with students under 13?

I mean - from what you describe the only people who can fix it are Quizzlet themselves.

Yes, I hope that is the case but the longer it goes on without anyone else mentioning it or Quizlet fixing it, I start to think that maybe it's our issue somehow. I was just checking that others either saw the same issue or perhaps didn't see the same issue to put my mind at rest either way.

Are your account setups "complete" for under 13's? This reads as though a Google signup alone won't be sufficient.
