Rob_D Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Where do you guys (or your schools) stand on students being able to see their next year's classes before start of term? I've just been forwarded a guide that's apparently circulating through the student body about how to log into M365 (why do they need a guide for this?) where they can see their class team membership for September. I like the engagement. But I know "the school" (SLT/HT) is going to get into a tizzy about this and I'm going to have to find a way to block students from seeing this (without stopping them logging into M365 because then they won't be able to do homework), because heaven forbid the little darlings (and I guess their parents) know who's teaching them next year. Thanks.
snagrat Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Do they see it even if the Team isn’t activated by the Teacher? We don’t activate by default and the Teacher must when ready 1

We don’t activate by default and the Teacher must when ready To be fair we're in the middle of Moving over to CloudBox, so things are a bit messy right now. But I don't think the teams themselves are appearing for the students, they've just found a way to go in and inspect their group memberships.
Steve21 Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Normally most the sync tools have an option not to sync outside the current academic year, so normally if you tick that it won't add them to new groups/teams/classes until whatever your first day of the term is 3rd/4th this year I assume Might be worth checking on whatever tool you're using (Salamander/Locker etc) Steve
Rob_D Posted August 16, 2024 Author Posted August 16, 2024 As I said, Cloudbox is being set up and we've not had any handover yet, so I don't have any direct control over the sync settings.
pete Posted August 16, 2024 Posted August 16, 2024 We really don't care. I'd be surprised if the kids don't already have PDF copies of their timetables sent out (classes for September are already in their Outlook calendars if they looked - we load three months in advance). 1
