Stone PCs & Creative 2.1 speakers = buzz

We have moved some PCs around the Stone PCs are now connected to Creative 2.1 speaker systems. It appears that when the PCs are off there is a buzz from the speakers, this never happened with the old HP desktops.

 

I've just bought https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07MR84XQ6 to see if this will kill the buzz.

 

Anyone else had this issue?

We've had similar buzzing that was remedied with Ground isolators like the one you've purchased - we have many rooms with this issue, I don't want to spend £5 per room to resolve the issue. I'm hopeful to find a cheap and easy way to DIY the ground isolation, but haven't spent time digging into this yet.

In one of the rooms that has a Stone PC and Creative speakers, which DOES NOT have a buzz, the PC is connected to a VGA and 3.5mm face plate, when the VGA is unplugged and the 3.5mm is still connected the speakers then buzz - weird!

If they are old speakers the powerline capacitors inside the speakers that normally get rid of any buzz may need replacing - if they're new speakers then the ground isolator may help.

In one room (science) found the LED lights in theblow ceiling cause the issue [emoji2359] so looking at buying som sheilded RCA leads.

 

In the other rooms though, will try the isolator that arrived this evening.

Ended up replacing the speakers for some poweree bookself 2.0 speakers with integrated amps.

 

The creative 2.1 speakers didn't hmm or buzz with a certain 3.5mm cable but these were only about 1.2m long. If i cut the cable there wpuld be no buzzing or hmming but if i were to extend and join it with some copper speaker cable (left, right and ground connected up) the speakers would buzz.

 

Even shielded RCA cables with RCA to 3.5mm adapters on each end made the speakers buzz.
