Smoothwall X Unifi Routing

Hi,

 

Ive got a setup here where i have a new Unifi Network the unifi switch is acting as the layer 3 switch. i am trying to get internet access through one of the vlans and smoothwall to put it out to LGFL as one of the LGFL IP addresses (WAN). i am at a loss and cant get it to work! the traffic stops at the smoothwall and then doesn't go out

Are you 100% sure your tagging is correct in Network?

I am wondering if the port plugged into the Smoothwall doesnt have Allow all tags set.

Yeah i have made sure of that :/ its probably something so dumb ive missed out on haha

When you say it stops at the Smoothwall, can you see it hitting the inside interface?

 

What's behind the unifi, are you using your own NAT addresses. All experiences from unifi acting as L3 have been excitingly bad, unless it's a newer one, they had this fantastic tendency to force you to use a specific vlan and IP range, which doesn't fly in most instances.

 

Im happy to set up captures on the LGfL side if you need (unless it's the raw offering, then it's not something we can see)

 

Be good to know what your Smoothwall sees, if it's aware of routes and whether it's actually sending to next hop or just doing nothing with it and putting in the bin.

Enable the auditing of traffic in the network - settings - advanced section and you can see all traffic arriving and leaving the Smoothwall in the realtime firewall viewer.

I too have had weird issues with Vlans in the past but I cant remember how I resolved them.

i have got it to work! it was the stupid vlan 4040 stuff! just need to fix LGFL's "VLAN" to pass through the clients IP adddress to the gateway haha
