Are you 100% sure it was an xls file and if so from which version.

I can open it but with rubbish in it

Usually corrupt files don't open i then run various recovery programs on them and hey presto they are OK.

 

This file is not saying its corrupt though.

Do you have a previous copy of the file from back up

and if so does that open OK.

One other think was it created by someone using excel or did another application create it eg Sage or one of the Crapita bits of software??

Have run various test and this is what i have found to date:

 

Selected File: (1 of 1)

Repaired File:

C:\Program Files\Ontrack\EasyRecovery Professional\Repaired\DEDUCTION CONTROL SHEET 08-09.xls

 

Repair progress:

Creating temporary file

Repairing file structures

Invalid file header found

Extracting cell data

Extraction phase 1

Extraction phase 2

Extraction phase 3

Adding cell data to workbook

No cell data found

We do have a backup, but the network and backup server have been having rather major problems since Wednesday!

 

Just thought it was worth asking if anyone could get the file to open but obviously not :)
