Google drive - show file location / file path?

Am I missing something in the online version of Google drive, because when a user tells me to look at X document, i ask them where is it? Tjis resulting is files and folders being unorganised. They cannot tell me as they have used the search function.

 

Have Google missed an extremely important feature out of telling end users where the file is actually located / showing the file path?

 

It feels like Google are losing touch when it comes to users and folder / file organisation.

 

A really useful feature would be to have the path of the file or folder in the details section of said file or folder.

 

Also it would be great to show who the owner of a shared file is and the location of this shared file / folder too.

 

Is it just me that is missing this?

Write click on a file and select File Information and the details of the file are presented in to the right of the screen. Also the path is shown at the top of the screen in Drive. In a Doc/Slide/Sheet and so on there is an organise button at the top that shows where the file is and allows you to move it and open the folder that its in.

 

As an admin you can use the investigation tool to look up the details of any file, folder or shared Drive.

Back in the "good old days" someone from Google said something along the lines of "there's no need for things as archaic as folders or directories, with search being an integral part of a system there's just no need"

Presumably someone with a combination of common sense and intelligence and the ability to use them concurrently put them straight, but it often feels like usability is second fiddle.
