rocknrollstar Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Hi, does anyone have any tips or extensions or policy settings that blocks ads for students, but doesn't have lots of negative consequences on the websites they use? We have chromebooks with Google Licenses to manage them in Google Admin. Thank you.
timbo343 Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Do you run Smoothwall or a similar product? I know on Smoothwall you can block adverts however some sites require the adverts to show otherwise the site does not load. 1
RichFix Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 If you don’t use Smoothwall Cloud Filter on Chromebooks as Timbo343 said, you can push out some Adblock extensions through Google Admin to all users. I would recommend Adblock plus: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/adblock-plus-free-ad-bloc/cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb 1
rocknrollstar Posted June 23, 2024 Author Posted June 23, 2024 Thank you both. We don't have SmoothWall, but have Fortinet and also ContentKeeper. Would either of these help? Regards Adblock, do you know if there is a central way to control settings of Adblock through Google Admin?

Regards Adblock, do you know if there is a central way to control settings of Adblock through Google Admin? You could see if there was a .json file that you can use to manage Adblock, otherwise you could use uBlock and configure the extension here: https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/wiki/Deploying-uBlock-Origin I'd also maybe change your external DNS ipaddress server to 1.1.1.3 / 1.0.0.3 so no adult content can be displayed and stops malware calling home - https://blog.cloudflare.com/introducing-1-1-1-1-for-families Edited June 23, 2024 by timbo343
