PotNoodleTech Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Looks like a heck of a good job! (technically you should be posting a salary ££ in this forum but that's nitpicking) 3
Will_Townsend Posted June 11, 2024 Author Posted June 11, 2024 Yes I really would like to but the school have asked not to, they don't tend to on their senior roles, but I can discuss with any serious applicants, if it doesn't comply then I'll happily take down, just thought it would be of great interest to some on here ;-) 1
PotNoodleTech Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Fair enough - I've never understood MATs obsession with hiding salaries. Most applicants want to know if they're talking £20k or £200k before they apply. 3

Fazza Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Agreed, "Competitive salary" reads to me as "as little as we can get away with" That's what I've always taken that to mean and have never applied for a single job that says that, if they're too embarassed to publicly say what they are offering pay wise then they're not the place for me! 3
psydii Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 I've always read it as the salary will be pitched to be competitive for where they perceive you perceive your value/worth to be. I would expect that the collective wisdom is to not advertise salary in order to make it possible to snaffle up previously underpaid talent without paying true/commercial market rates, while still also attracting talent from the commercial sector who know their value. 3
Theblacksheep Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 I dont understand that approach, it's a waste of everyones time having to have a discussion about it and alot wont bother. 2
JRA Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 (edited) I think I'll apply for it. All I'm putting on the form though is "competitive candidate." Absolutely no way they could object to that. Might as well put "we are DESPERATE to under-pay you." Edited June 11, 2024 by JRA 1
Popular Post Tefters Posted June 11, 2024 Popular Post Posted June 11, 2024 (edited) No pricey, no likey! P.S. Can we get a rule on here so that if a job advert does not have a salary then it needs removing. It's adverts like this that are the reason areas of the IT sector are massively underpaid. It even goes as far as saying "package" but provides no information on what is included as part of the package apart from a pension contribution percentage which isn't even that great and a few days possibly working from home during half-terms. If that's the highlight of the package then Edited June 11, 2024 by Tefters 12
