[CC3 Pkg] FFDShow Codecs

Hi all,

 

At my school, we had the science department come to us a few times with videos that needed codecs installing. Instead of deploying every media player under the sun I packaged the FFDShow codec and I've hosted it on my site for anyone else who might find it useful.

 

It's not a codec pack so it's very stable (despite being Beta 5), it's a single codec that handles many audio and video formats and lets them all play within Windows Media Player 9 - 11. The package hides all of its icons and configuration so nobody will notice it in use.

 

Some of the formats handled are:

• DIVX

• H.264
  
• FLV
  
• MPEG1 + 2
  
• AAC
  
• FLAC
  
• OGG

Hi Bizzel, I noticed your post above. It looks like you've made a neat msi to deploy the necessities in order to allow the users to play common video files that are usually missing codecs.

 

This is something that annoys me so much at the schools I work at. They are now fond of a new camera called flipcam which saves video in MPEG-4 format I beleive.

 

Does your "program" include support for MPEG-4 codecs?

 

If so, please can I have a copy? I went to your website but there is no mention of this "program" on the site.

If you don't hear from Bizzel give a yell I as I probably have the package around somewhere. I'm not sure if this codec pack is what allows MPEG-4 or that we use VLC, but we can definitely play them here. The problem then is you have to convert them to use in Movie Maker if that is your weapon of choice.

FFDShow will play MPEG-4 Part 2 (including video encoded with Xvid, 3ivx, and all versions of DivX).

Flash Video, H.263 and VP6 (used by sites such as YouTube).

H.264/AVC, Theora, WMV as well as numerous others.
