Millgate_Jon Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 Hi Everyone We`ve just had a couple of our demo devices returned to us after a successful proof of concept deployment with a client. Anyone interested in taking them on to try out themselves? We have 2 x Halo 2C you can try for 30 days on site to evaluate etc. Cheers Jon.
jnfarmer Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Hi Jon Just so happens we're looking at deploying vape sensors. Could we set up a call about Halo devices before we go about trialing them? Cheers James
Millgate_Jon Posted May 20, 2024 Author Posted May 20, 2024 Hi James Absolutely yes, I`m in the office all day tomorrow (Tuesday 21st May) if you`d like to call, alternatively, please send your details over to me on PM and I`ll drop you a line whenever suits. Cheers Jon.
timbo343 Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Just as someone who is trailing the Halo Vape Sensors, one of our schools has had a positive reaction to them even with the Halo behind a metal plate with holes in so the sensor does not get damaged.
Millgate_Jon Posted May 21, 2024 Author Posted May 21, 2024 Thanks Tim We haven`t tested them that way but good to know! If any vape molecules hit that sensor it`ll go off, regardless of the route they take to get there!
timbo343 Posted May 22, 2024 Posted May 22, 2024 Thanks Tim We haven`t tested them that way but good to know! If any vape molecules hit that sensor it`ll go off, regardless of the route they take to get there!Thing is with some schools the issue is the vandalism. Kids have been known to climb up on top of the cubicles via the toilet and loo roll holder to see what is in the ceiling. As sad as it seems but you have to almost think belt and braces and then some. The lugs on the Halo device when the device is mounted in the ceiling tile would not stand up to the kids. With the lugs being thin the kids would rip the unit out of the ceiling tile hence the sensors will be covered up. Additional support / sturdy supports such as pieces of hardboard or ply are needed to strengthen the Halo whilst mounted in the ceiling.
Millgate_Jon Posted May 22, 2024 Author Posted May 22, 2024 Yeah I guess the degree of protection required is going to vary school to school, the metal plate is a good idea and I have some clients who use the RJ45 lockable clamp things to prevent them being unplugged. That said, if you set the tamper alarm as soon as the device is touched it can flash red and emit the siren as well as staff alerts to catch the culprits. Coupled with a threat of being billed for a new device at full RRP and you have an effective deterrent :-) This only works if the staff take the alarms seriously and attend in time to catch them of course. Without calculating specifics.........we (Millgate) have about 300 devices "out there" across about 25 different schools and colleges, we`ve only had 4 returned with damage that were beyond repair so the real world numbers are a bit more encouraging.
