pdfgear is free and will convert the encrypted pdf, works well with claro.

 

claro pdf works well but you still have to enter the password.

If anyone is struggling printing to PDF in Adobe Reader;l change the page sizing and handling in the print options to "Actual size" and try again. Seems to solve the issue with it being unreadable in the reader softwares.

We had the same issue with the AQA Biology paper on Friday and again this morning with the English Lit paper, Namely that Docs+ and Exam Write Pad could not read the PDF. They both errored. Even if you enter the password supplied by AQA you are not able to remove the "open PDF " password block, as it requires another password to remove the security. So we resorted to a software removal of the Security so that the electronic read / writer programs will open the PDF and work for the Students.

As already commented, bodes well for all electronic exams in few years!!

This has just got us this morning, we use Natural Reader 16 (free) the restricted PDF did not allow copying or printing which stumped me for 5 minutes. (until I read the restrictions notice)

 

FFS We've been told to email if it happens again to request an un restricted copy.

Just to let you all know that ExamWritePad does support password protected PDFs from AQA but we have a small issue with opening them in fullscreen mode where the password dialog stays behind the ExamWritePad window.

 

If you run ExamWritePad in normal window mode then you will be Ok.

 

We are looking providing our dialog for passwords which we can force to the front of the ExamWritePad window. This is around a week away from being release if successful.

 

Because AQA never made it known to us of this added security measure we were unprepared and couldn’t test something we knew nothing about. We are now reacting to this as priority without compromising the rest of ExamWritePad so that people who wish to upgrade can do so with the confidence it will work as expected.

 

As a work around you can do the following:

1) Load the PDF in any PDF reader software and print it to the Microsoft Print to PDF printer.

2) now you have an unprotected file but not fit for screen reading purposes. You at this point need Adobe Acrobat for the final steps.

3) Load the PDF into Adobe Acrobat and select ‘Scan & OCR’ then ‘Recognise Text’.

4) Dave the PDF and it should be ready to go.

 

No guarantees are giving that this workaround will work 100%, just need to cover my backside :-)

I saw the restrictions and didn't even try. So I don't know that they do not work just an assumption.

pdf gear is the way to go. open the pdf select remove password, save and your done. just push out the saved pdf. no drama.
