Animated_Trouble Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 Hello We are using Exam write pad and the network tech before me set this up so that the student saves to a network share while in the exam but when they finish the exam their paper moves from that share to an archive. (basically from the folder "examuser1" to "Archive" fold both in the same folder.) This way the students work is moved from the computer and the next one that logs on does not see previous exam papers. It was deleted whatever he did before he left and I have been asked to recreate it! I was told he did this in the EWP config Editor but I can not find the settings - can you advise? Is this possible or was it created with a logoff script to move the docs from one folder to another?
Olliedawg Posted May 7, 2024 Posted May 7, 2024 I'd imagine you could accomplish that with a batch script running on logoff using the "move" command.. I've got EWP set up as below, and it works a treat. Simple but it just works. Student exam is autosaved locally to C:\Exam in increments of 1 minute (set in EWP config) Every 5 minutes, a scheduled task runs which performs " robocopy C:\Exam \\FILESERVER\students$\%username% /e >nul " This way there is a copy of the exam in two places. This is pushed out via GPO. At the end of the exam period, delprof2 is run on all of the exam laptops, to clear out the local copies of the exams. We never have multiple students using the same laptop/desktop as they have a seating plan. 1
Animated_Trouble Posted May 7, 2024 Author Posted May 7, 2024 Thanks this looks the way to go! it's definitely not in the EWP config editor! I will see how it goes - definitely do not want to do a cut and paste or move with exam docs

Yea I'd recommend doing the copy instead of moving, less chance of anything going wrong this way!

I don't think EWP Config Editor has a direct setting for this. What worked for us was a simple batch script that ran on logoff, moving the files to the designated archive directory. You can place the script in the Group Policy for logoff actions.
ass17 Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 Hi folks, I can confirm the ConfigEditorGUI app doesnt perform such a function as as you have suggested moving ExamText files needs to be done by have the users save directly to the network so that they are shadow copied/previous versioned or scripted as you suggest.
