User Based Power-Saving

Hi all,

 

Sure I have done this in the past but for the life of me I can't get it configured now!!!

 

Looking to implement user level Power Management policy that achieves the below:

• Staff accounts are locked after 10 minutes inactivity (already implemented with screen saver) and then device should go to sleep
  
• Exam / Presentation Accounts do not sleep and / or do not prompt for password on wake.

I am sure I have implemented similar before, but now it seems no matter what I put in the user area, only the computer settings take effect. Closest I have got is set an hour long sleep / screen lock on the device and secure accounts using screensaver settings - but I am sure I have done better than this in the past!

 

Has anyone done similar? Where am I going wrong. Spent a whole afternoon on this!

Could you use GP loopback policy, to make computer settings apply to certain users?

 

Not sure if that would overwrite another computer based policy, I'd leave the computer policies for power management blank to avoid a conflict between the two. And you'd have to have a power policy set for every user type, unless you're happy falling back onto Windows defaults.
