pixlmixgabriel Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 Hi all, Running into a bit of an issue where SIMS is crashing everytime a teacher does their register. Our SIMS server sits on a different VLAN to the iMac they are using which means a work around for taking registers is to use Remote App SIMS and RDS as if the teacher was at home. We've tested the exact same process on a Windows laptop and experienced the same issue here. On our domain joined PCs, we use remote app too. Testing registers being taken for this teacher on this domain joined PC, using the exact same process just without the RDS platform being used doesn't raise any issues. We suspected it may be something to do with their SIMS account but after testing with the domain joined PC and having everything work, we're a bit stuck as to what we can do next. The crash itself: the time tabling area/register area of SIMS becomes unclickable, everything freezes there but the tabs at the top such as "focus" and "reports" etc are able to be clicked and used. Any help is greatly appreciated!
pablo007 Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 Its not a local space issue on the rds servers is it, or can the users write to the c drive locally i have seen issues where this has caused this type of problem.
pixlmixgabriel Posted April 16, 2024 Author Posted April 16, 2024 Space looks fine on the RDS servers and users cannot write to C
pablo007 Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 Can you confirm that this has ever worked or is it a new issue having previously been working ok? also if the users (from MAC and windows) rdp to a full desktop rather than the remote app only does sims perform as expected?
bigstan48 Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 SIMS is crashing on some computers on the network. Anybody else experiencing this and have a solution. TIA

pixlmixgabriel Posted April 16, 2024 Author Posted April 16, 2024 @pablo007 given us an idea to try downloading the rdp file on the domain joined PC and going through there, cheers for that!
pixlmixgabriel Posted April 19, 2024 Author Posted April 19, 2024 Update - we used the downloaded RDP file and SIMS is working as it should be from the domain joined PC
