Looking for advice on the purchase of a 75” touch screen for a day centre

I am trying to purchase a 75” touch screen for a day centre. Either a BENQ RE7503 or NEWLINE TT-7523QS. I just want to get it right 😂 The BENQ offers install etc where as the NEWLINE doesn’t but then it doesn’t need a dongle etc. I’m going for the trolley option so maybe installation isn’t important?

It will be used for interactive quizzes, Spotify singalongs, games, browsers, direct write on, watching clips, sharing photos and videos.

I’m just looking for a non biased comparison or view.

It’s a lot of money to get wrong for our charity and every sales person is able to convince me there’s is best 😂😂

If you are set on one of these, I would be going with cost and warranty. I'm not familiar with these models, but if its going on a trolley, make sure that all of the connectiivity sockets are in protected locations and are not situated where they can be easily knocked or will be hard to get at when the trolley is wheeled in place. I have found that with these device types that the sound can be somewhat varialble and some very tinny to my ears.

 

I'd also suggest a visualiser if you don't have one so that you can instantly display/enlarge paper based materials easily and it can act as a camera for zoom type meetings.

You probably don't need to pay for installation - we tend to pay to have our school's Smart boards installed, but then we're having those wall-mounted on heavy, motorised-lift stands, a wheeled stand just generally needs a couple of people to put together. Don't forget to get a decent-length power extension cable and some cable ties so you can position the board easily.

 

We've tended to buy separate OPS PCs to provide the "built-in computer" functionality if needed. If you go for that option, make sure you get an OPS PC and board combination that is warrantied to work together - we're found VeryPC to be helpful with this is the past.

I was thinking more of a non-interactive screen, but there doesn't seem to be any cost advantage that way.

 

If you search here for the brand names there seem to be good references for both. Get three seperate quotes for each if you can. Lots of people here will recommend VeryPC.

If it's going on a wheeled stand, I'd probably save on the install cost.

 

It sounds like you're fairly happy with the two options you've said, I would maybe consider some other options though. We've had a really good run with HiSense, as they've been really great value options. One of our schools is pulling out all their SMART panels at the end of their lease to replace with HiSense.

I agree when it comes to panels, it is a minefield out there and it can be difficult to judge what would suit you best. I'll run through some of the core principles of our BenQ products and should you have any further questions please feel free to drop me a DM.

 

Firstly, warranty, not all warranties are equal. Some warranties will offer cover for a period of time, but in the small print it can change from on-site to return to base, which means you are responsible for logistics costs. Having worked in after warranty service before this isn't cheap. What we try and offer is peace of mind, out of the box all of our interactive panels 65" and larger have a 3 year de/re-install warranty (two person team will come to site and replace a faulty screen); however if you register within 30 days of purchase this will become a 5 year de/re-install warranty at no extra cost (exactly the same warranty as the first 3 years).

 

Secondly, hardiness, again not all panels are as tough as each other. I know a lot of people that are advocates for TVs, on first glance this may be appealing, however TVs have no protection to the glass so they are very easily damaged and warranties are not always honoured out of a consumer setting. Most interactive panels will have stronger glass; I can't speak for every screen in the market, but our RE series is 3.2mm thick and is rated 9H on the Mohs mineral hardness scale (10 being diamond). You can get thicker glass which first upon impression will be better but these are often rated lower (7H) and will make it harder to see and interact at an angle. The Mohs scale doubles with each increase, so 9H is not 2 better than 7H, it is 4 times tougher.

 

Thirdly, you mention network connectivity, you are correct, the RE series does not include a dongle, these are an optional extra; however they do have LAN sockets, so if you do want to have internet connectivity on the panel itself you can use a LAN cable (you will need a power cable anyway). But if you are planning on driving the content from a laptop or PC then you may not actually need the dongle.
