[sims] http://localhost:50000 won't open

I'm on the sims server. Updated to spring release yesterday. SIMS services manager won't open the http://localhost:50000 as won't connect (this page can't be displayed, in the browser) (if I go through troubleshoot it says The remote device or resource won't accept the connection). Is this a firewall problem? (I had already restarted sims services manager in services.msc)

 

Yesterday I did have Intouch stop working as (in SIMS) the Licence Key says Validation failed. I've emailed our support but not heard back yet. Is it related?

solution: restarting the services.msc again has made the app start working. I still have a license problem but that's a different issue I guess.

If SIMS Services Manager is installed on your DNS server, ports 50000 and 50001 are within the port range that can be randomly used by the DNS service. Add an exception to DNS which will ensure it does not use these ports with the following command:

dnscmd /Config /SocketPoolExcludedPortRanges 50000-50001

 

Restart DNS Server service and SSM service for the change to take effect.
