Hi all,

Have a school with an onsite server. Please could the following be clarified, thanks all.

They apparently had the licenses below

Product Description

  • Microsoft® Office Pro Plus Education All Languages License & Software Assurance Open Value Level F 1 Year Academic Enterprise
  • Microsoft® M365 Apps Enterprise Open Faculty All Languages Subscription Open Value Level F 1 Month Academic AP Add-on Office Pro Plus
  • Microsoft® Win Server CAL All Languages License & Software Assurance Open Value Level F 1 Year Academic Enterprise User CAL
  • Microsoft® Win Server Standard Core All Languages License & Software Assurance Open Value 16 Licenses Level F 1 Year Academic AP
  • Microsoft® Win Device Edu All Languages Upgrade SA Open Value Level F 1 Year Academic Enterprise

Now I have asked the supplier to remove the 'Microsoft® Office Pro Plus Education....' as the school will now just be using the cloud version of Office i.e. 'Microsoft® M365 Apps Enterprise Open Faculty'. The supplier keeps saying the Pro Plus version cannot be removed.

Removing the Pro Plus had cut their licensing cost by half.

Any clarification would be most welcome.

Thanks all

The M365 Apps Enterprise is listed as being an Add-on, so if the Office Pro Plus was removed then that would be removed as well - if this is the case (licensing is not my strong suit) they possibly could have explained it better.

I'm assuming this is an OVS contract? Sounds like one, if you're still paying for Office Pro Plus rather than Office 365.

But yeah, echoing Martyn above, the Office Pro Plus is your annual MS Office licensing. If you're not paying for Office any other way, you will need to keep this item on your agreement.

"M365 Apps Enterprise" is essentially a freebie for Office Pro Plus users, that your reseller can add to your Office 365 tenant. It gives M365 users access to Office apps to install on devices, plus additional OneDrive storage. Combining M365 Apps Enterprise and Office 356 A1, gives you an O365 feature set more than 0365 A1, but not quite O365 A3 (I was setting this up for our tenant last week).
