The Role

 

Reporting to the Head of IT Support at Roedean, the IT Apprentice will be responsible for providing 1st line support to various people around the school, assisting with printing and media related jobs, providing support for events, and working with other members of the IT team to provide IT services, as required.

The postholder will complete an apprenticeship under the ICT Level 3 programme which follows a specialist Support Technician option

 

Main Duties

 

• Provide 1st line support to Staff and Pupils.• Provide operating support across Windows, Chromebook, Mac OS, iOS, and Android.• Provide support on the Microsoft 365 Suite, as well as other software packages used within school.• Provide hardware support for end user equipment.• Provide a regular print and media service to the school, such as laminating, binding, booklet creation etc.• Work with the IT Technician to maintain the printers and supplies.• Support school events with IT requirements.• Assist with running AV requirements during events and assemblies.• Contribute to a friendly and helpful helpdesk service.• Assist other members of the IT Team as needed.• Keep abreast of modern developments and product initiatives.• Keep up to date with portfolio of course work• Any other such task that may be reasonably requested

 

Personal Specification

 

• 3 GCSEs at 4/C and above desirable (Maths and English preferred).• GCSE IT, Computing or ICDL qualification useful.• Basic understanding of Windows and Mac OS.• Keen interest in the working of computers and IT in general.• Punctual, well mannered, enthusiastic, and keen to learn.• Ability to work alone and within a team.• Ability to interact with end users directly.• Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365.• Diagnostic, problem-solving, and analytical skills.• Appreciation of quality control.• A confident and clear communicator.• Flexible where required for out of hour event support.• Hardworking and committed to providing a quality service.• Good time keeping.• Able to work with a wide range of people and to remain calm under pressure.

The Package

 

Salary: Starting salary NTS Point 1 - £17,898 with goal based increments up to NTS Point 4 £19,432

Hours: 39.5 hours per week - 8am-5pm. Monday – Thursday and 8am-4.30pm, Friday

Holidays: 22 days per annum rising to 27 days after 5 years’ service.
