[free] Cisco Meraki MS120 Switches

I am currently working for an org where we are removing our Meraki infrastructure.

 

Nothing is set in stone yet as I need to check all the politics involved, but we are looking into donating our old switches, and later, wireless.

 

I’m just using this to gauge interest, below will be the requirements and terms for anyone interested:

-Name of school/charity

-Location

-Current switching infrastructure

-How the switches would benefit your school/charity

 

On top of the above, anywhere potentially selected would need to confirm all correspondence from their organisational email address, and have approval from the business manager or headteacher.

 

The equipment would be donated on an as is basis, a document would have to be signed saying they will not be sold on for profit, that no warranty or support is implied or given, and that they will be disposed of correctly come their EoL.

 

A license will be required for each device, but I believe Cisco offer very good rates for non-profits.

 

At the moment our inventory is over 350 switches. Batches should become available between May and Dec this year.

 

All switches are MS120 series, currently still on sale and in support. The majority are 48 port PoE, with some 24 port PoE, and some 8 port PoE.

 

We will also have MR44 access points become available this year, but we do not yet have dates for these.

 

We are located in the North West.

 

Any potential interest please let me know below, along with how many devices you would need. If there’s enough interest, I can take this back to management and hopefully make this works.

Hi, we’re definitely interested we have a site in our MAT (Based in the NW) that is currently based solely on Meraki as installed when a section of the site was rebuilt. We’d definitely benefit from having some additional capacity/spare units that matches the rest of our infrastructure as well as enabling us to not have to use cheaper ‘smart switches’ when those last minute estates projects arise that no one planned for. Ideally a handful of 48 POE and 24 Port POE would be perfect as these are what we have on site. Happy to message you direct for trust name etc.

wow, as long as you remove these devices from your meraki inventory, people can claim them. These would be what Meraki call Grey devices, you can licence them but Meraki will NOT provide warranty support. You may also wish to change your licencing model to disaggregated.

 

I'm running about 10 MR30H grey right now if it fails I can remove the licence buy another (unclaimed device) and apply the licence to it.

 

Meraki don't offer the 2 for 1 education discount any more though.

Hi there, we would definitely be interested in a few of the 48 port switches and in future some of the APs if at all possible please?

 

We are an all Meraki MAT based near Leeds, but we have just taken on 3 primary schools that need moving off legacy council equipment and have no budget to do so.

I would be interested in an 8 port PoE switch and AP. We have just installed a building that needs WiFi. We have lots of the MS120-8P across the trust so an extra one would help save us some money along with a MR44.

Then I would only need to buy a PtP link to get them up and running

The project got delayed due to our new build hospital, but we now have the first batch of switches out and ready to donate!
