HP Pavilion 27 - d1023na

Absolute nightmare - tried everything

Keeps coming up with various error messages and won't boot and crashes

Reinstalled Win 10 multiple times only to fail

Just out of warranty

Have run chkdsk /r /f from recovery Environment - no issue, but is there a utility that will scan each sector after booting from a boot disk - bit like HD Tune ?

Just to rule out SSD issues

Also, is there a disassembly video for this All in One - seems a sealed unit

I have had SSD's die. I would say slap another SSD in there and rebuild but you may have trouble getting it apart which is exactly the reason I've literally never bought an All in one in 20+ years.

Aha

Well, after trying most of what I thought I knew, I sourced a youtube video on how to disassemble and removed the CMOS battery for a few hours

Put it back and HEY PRESTO - no more issues !

Even though I loaded BIOS defaults beforehand to no avail - this is what did it

I was worried about the screen though, but got away with it

Hope this helps someone !

:)
