MS Planner

Does anyone have any experience of using Microsoft Planner in Office 365?

 

It works fine for staff, also our students can access it fine. The issue is when students click 'New plan' they get the error message 'Plan and Microsoft 365 group creation disabled. You are not a member of an existing group. To create a new Microsoft 365 Group, contact your organization's global admin'

 

Both staff and students use A5 licence, and there isn't a 'Planner' admin panel for me to enable it for students.

 

Any thoughts on this issue? And what is your experience using MS Planner?

You have set that pupils can't create groups (which is very correct) and when you create a new plan it creates a group to accommodate the planner, which the student can't do. Hence the error, group creation disabled.

 

As far as I am aware everyone gets a personal planner created any way so not sure why they would need another. You can also have one per team or SharePoint so if one is needed for a project a Team would be a better fit.

 

I use it personally, have it as part of our team for non-ticket things, and have introduced it to staff but not sure how much it is used.

If it is anything like shifts you have one planner per team, and only the owner can create the planner for that team
