Query re discrepancy in KS2 scores downloaded from DfE

Hi

I have just downloaded KS2 results for a student from the DfE GIAP site. It just so happens that the READSCORE, MATSCORE & GPSSCORE are all 3 higher than the READSCORE_noSpeccon, MATSCORE_noSpeccon & GPSSCORE_noSpeccon scores. I’ve never encountered a case where the ‘normal’ scores differ from the ‘noSpeccon’ scores. How do I know which ones to import into our MIS?

Standard since P8 switched to being based off ScaledScore starting points instead of KS2 Fine Scores. For progress8 calculations you need to be using the noSpeccon values. For everything else (eg: including KS2 Prior on reports home to parents etc) you use the normal value.

Bromcom doesn't acknowledge the noSpeccon figures so you have to manually calc the new average of READSCORE_noSpeccon & MATSCORE_noSpeccon then enter it in the override column of their KS2 prior attainment area (as otherwise it'll use the average of READSCORE & MATSCORE)

 

No idea how other MIS handle it.

Thanks very much for clarifying this. Just as a matter of interest - how do you gain access to the override column of their KS2 prior attainment area?

Modules > Analysis > Keystage Cohort Definitions > make sure your Yr10 & 11 cohorts are both there... then:

Modules > Analysis > Review KS2 Fine Levels

I'm guessing there's no scope for doing this for KS3 students (the student in question has gone into our y8), in which case we'll presumably have to wait until she enters y10?

Yup. For this purpose, we have an Assessment Component called ASS and store it in there.

 

Yes, I know. We'd already been using MSS and RSS for Maths Scaled Score and Reading Scaled Score... so when it came to storing Average Scaled Score... *shrug*
