Select Key on VLK media

Have been told by our LA who negotiate cheap Select Licence deals from MS that in order to use their keys that we must have matching CD Windows Server 2003 Media. They want to charge £27 for the media.

 

We already have VLK media labeled "Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with Service Pack 1 (Volume Licence Product Key Required)" June 2006 End Item Part No. P73-01313

 

Will the LA's Select key work with this media?

 

Also due to piracy we have to tell them the serial numbers of all the machines we would use their select licences on. Not sure what happens if i want to install 2003 on a temporary box and then migrate to another later.

 

I am currently using a 120 day trial licence. The LA have told me that I would have to pay the full corperate price for 2003 if I upgraded the 120 trial through MS or a reseller. There does not seem to be anything on the MS site about making a 120 day trial of server 2003 permanent.

As long as you have told them the base product key you intend to upgrade fromt there should be no problems

You would use an upgrade installation using the full product media and key

So the windows install procedure run from full product media will detect any previous OS and allow me to enter a new key without loosing programs installed and configuration from the previous OS (Windows 2003 Std R2 SP1).
