ICT_GUY Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 Anyone got ideas for what would be the best replacment for RM? To be fair their service levels have been dropping rapidly. Alternative filtering? and or combined provider? This would be for a large primary. We do have two admin networks on the same connection.

HereIGoAgain2601 Posted February 22, 2024 Posted February 22, 2024 We have just moved to Wave 9 with the Sophos XG filter. Light years ahead of RMs offering and we saved a small fortune compared to the previous pricing. 1

Lots of choices for a single location, subscribe to a filtering list. Multiple locations is more restrictive
ICT_GUY Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 It is just for broadband. One connection, with filtering options. Firewall as well. I could do this in house but I will never be given the hours to manage the service. The filtering options would need to be userbased, as we use userbased filtering with RM. Any options for better monitoring of students for safeguarding would definitely be nice. At the moment we are using SWGFL and RM purely becuase its managed by them.

We switched to Wave9 18 months ago. The service has been rock solid and the support is excellent

No problem, if you drop me an email or PM with your details, I'll get something out to you straight away. If the price looks ok, can arrange a demo or references as needed, cheers 1
ITGURU Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 If you know how and have the tech knowledge you can move from rm to vanilla yourself. One school in our mat was win 7 and rm unify and cc. I moved the whole site to vanilla setup due to its rubbish interface and manageability. as long as do bits step by step rm is just a basic interface to manage all roles in one place in Mickey mouse format!

I think it's harsh to describe it as mickey mouse and a rubbish interface - it does work and whilst your experience may not have been the best it certainly works for some schools. 2
ICT_GUY Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 We have been a vanilla windows network for the past 18 years. It is purely an internet connection we use them for.
