Cisco switch stack

Hi all,

 

I walked into school this morning to find a Cisco switch off with no lights on, but a loud fan noise refusing to power on. The switches are a Cisco WS-C2960S-48LPD-L in a stack of 3.

The switch that I am having issues with the the 2nd switch in the stack. I replaced with a working switch, it added the switch to the stack as number 4 not 2. I putty'd into the switch and changed it to number 2 in the stack and its kept the change, however it's now shows a number 4 switch in the stack as a member with no MAC adress and 'provisioned'

 

Also, the switch 2 (the replacement) is showing all the interfaces on the default 1 vlan instead of the VLANS we use.

 

I did take a backup of the switches config before making any changes.

 

Any ideas please?

no switch 4 provision WS-C2960S-48LPD-L

 

interface config is probably lost now, you’ll need to reconfigure all the interfaces into correct vlans, stp etc

Basically this ^^

 

The switch should have been numbered before joining it to the stack.

 

I would restore the port config for switch 2 from your backup. Copy and paste the config.

 

Also the 2960S is end of life. You should consider removing from service.
