howartp Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Good morning Our entire SNOVA folder has disappeared from //server/share/SIMS (aka S:/SIMS) last weekend but only come to light today as both staff who'd use it have been off this week. It's led me to look at permissions, currently AllStaff have Read/Write/Modify on S:/* including /SIMS/Census, CTFs, Setups etc, the whole /MSSQL folder structure, /DOCSTORAGE and /4Matrix. This is clearly overkill, but does anyone know what standard JoeBloggs needs to be able to operate SIMS? Just /DOCSTORAGE and /SIMS/Connect.ini? Or more than that? (The ESS article says Read/Write on /* but that's not much better)
psydii Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 In general all staff get read only here. Timetabler, admissions, and data team have full control.
howartp Posted December 21, 2023 Author Posted December 21, 2023 In general all staff get read only here. Timetabler, admissions, and data team have full control. So all staff can read the School Workforce Census XML with staff salaries in? 1
psydii Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 We have removed the ace for the group that grants all staff permission to read the census folders.
Linfit Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Assuming a standard install, write permissions will be needed by the following users on the following folders: Timetabler – S:\SIMS\SNOVA Exams Officer – S:\SIMS\EXAMS Anyone using Options – S:\SIMS\OPTIONS Anyone using Attendance letter templates – S:\SIMS\Attend Anyone processing CTF’s and ATF’s – S:\SIMS\STAR anything else can be read and most users fodon't need the mapped S drive anyway.
