merge schools to one email server

Hi all i need to merge two exchange servers relatively seamlessly.(i think)

heres the background as of September we merge with another school to form an academy but for one year only we are split sites (1 mile apart) so separate domains still but the powers that be seem to think we should have one email domain my problem is that i don't really want to have to merge domains so that we can have one instance of exchange can anyone enlighten me please.

You could have the exchange server on one domain and setup accounts all on that domain and make your users use OWA.

 

Another option would to have a domain trust.

thanks FN part of my problem is that SLT don't want new accounts so is there a way i could setup an new exchange server (given that i will need to do in a year anyways) and have some sort of forwarder to both domains for the time being ?? sounds easy so probably isn't possible or easy....

 

 

P.S i appreciate that i will still need to setup and manage new accounts on the new email domain but staff will carry on as normal.

In Active Directory you can give a user multiple e-mail aliases, so they continue to receive mail at them. The primary address is where their outbound mail appears to be from.
