We have a teacher who has some old resources that he would like like to make use of, now these are from what I understand in era of when board works was around etc.

As you know adobe no longer provide security updates or even support said product anymore.

So im asking the collective hive to see if we know of an alternative mechanism that is safe to use to allow the use of accessing these swf files.

Their is a product called ruffle https://ruffle.rs which provide an application and or ms edge extension to allow swf to be ran, however the site isn’t really convincing me that it’s OK and it’s just some knocked up open source thing.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

As you said ruffle is open source but it’s also the main “alternative” I’ve seen

Personally I’d just fire this back to the teacher to get updated resources, jokes aside why add a potential security risk if you aren’t happy with it just for poor planning of resources

Considering flash has been EOL for 3~ years the resources can’t be that required to have not asked previously :p If it’s a one off they want to access them to convert/re-write you suggest they do it at home etc

*Edit - Obviously if you realllllly want to be nice, you get Adobe animate and convert it all to HTML5 for them! :p (don't say I didn't warn you against it!)

That's not some knocked up open source thing. 11,000 commits, 1000 releases, 150 devs, corporate sponsorship, written in rust. 700 forks.

That looks pretty good to me, I'd guarantee you are running plenty of software that doesn't have nearly that level of support.
