VMWare Memory

Good afternoon all,

 

With VMWare is it the case that memory assigned to a powered off VM just instantly becomes available or is there some sort of reclaiming process?

 

For example, VM which was assigned 2Gb RAM is shut down (but not deleted) and never being switched on again so I can just assign that 2Gb to another VM?

The memory becomes available once powered off.
