chekmate1984 Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 Hi We had a mac issue so we reinstalled the OS via recovery mode. It added to the JAMF system after reinstall no issues and can see it too But we are unable to log in via the AD logins. Is there a step we need to take to get AD logins to work? i thought this wouldve been part of JAMF but dont seem to be Thanks
RLR Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 You will need to bind the Mac to AD. This can be done via config profile, policy or manually. There are also other services available which are paid for like Jamf connect. I bind Macs via a config profile. In the config profile will be a "Directory" option which you will need to fill in some options then scope it to the Mac.
NeoNebula Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 I hear about this issue all the time from people. Perhaps Mac should simplify this process. Basically, after an OS reinstall, the Mac may need to be rebound to the AD domain. This process involves reconnecting the Mac to the AD server to ensure proper authentication and access controls.
JMSJ Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 If you already have the bind to AD policy set up, you should just be able to re run it and it should reconnect. If not manually unbind it if it's already bound and then rebind again either via policy or manually
NeoNebula Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Sounds like you have to play around with rebinding until it works. Well, I guess it's the only optimal solution for this moment.
2ilent8cho Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Sounds like the AD Bind is a JAMF Policy, and it's set to run once per machine. When the device re-enrolls in JAMF after re-installing macOS it will use the same machine record, which will have logged that that device has already run the AD Bind Policy previously, so no need to run it again. So you need to flush that policy, go to the device -> history -> policy logs and press flush next to the policy that binds AD.
NeoNebula Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 Oh! Wow! I should try it this wat too. Well, I've never heard of this method, but now I need to test in on my own skin.
