Getting a Catchpa when either our edge or chrome browsers default to our internal portal google site.. Incredibly annoyiong and site wide..

About this pageOur systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. This page checks to see if it's really you sending the requests, and not a robot. Why did this happen? This page appears when Google automatically detects requests coming from your computer network which appear to be in violation of the Terms of Service. The block will expire shortly after those requests stop. In the meantime, solving the above CAPTCHA will let you continue to use our services. This traffic may have been sent by malicious software, a browser plug-in, or a script that sends automated requests. If you share your network connection, ask your administrator for help — a different computer using the same IP address may be responsible. Learn moreSometimes you may be asked to solve the CAPTCHA if you are using advanced terms that robots are known to use, or sending requests very quickly.

We had a spate of this when we were nearing the Summer holidays a few years ago.

Our provider was our LEA, and they said that the message "...systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network ..." may not have been referring to our network alone.

Even though our head had put out an edict that teachers should deliver normal lesson content, and not stream films during lessons or allow students complete freedom in IT lessons as an "end of term treat" in many cases teachers were doing just that.

Our LEA said that similar was happening in other schools and that could have been triggering the unusual traffic messages.

We're getting the same here.

Are you a LGLF internet school? I've raised a case with them about it but not heard anything back.

Not surprising though, their support times have been awful as of late.

Hi, saw this post. Adept Education have been taken over by Wavenet earlier in the year. As a result they are providing the service to schools on behalf of LGfL. Please get in touch about the problems you are having. I'm reviewing their performance and interested to understand , from your perspective, whether the service has improved or degraded. I can be contacted at [email protected] Edited by JohnJackson

In terms of the issue, Google manage this globally (stateside I believe) and Google can rectify it if they have the relevant IP address ranges. However, its not straightforward.

Same, on Exa

Sorry for the delay in responding to this.

Exa was notified of the issue on Friday 6th around midday.

We had calls from customers, both with and without our SurfProtect filtering, so it is clear that Google had either broken or altered the code they use to trigger the Captcha screen. Either way, we had our in house development team investigate and we were able to fully test and deploy a fix for this to our SurfProtect platform by 5:15pm the same day.

If you are still experiencing the problem, please drop me a reply, or call the Helpdesk on 0345 145 1234 and the team will be more than happy to investigate.

Thanks, no complaints this week. What did the fix do?

@mavhc - Glad to hear that you've had no reports this week so far.

Without going in to the full technical detail, the change was to alter the IP structure we use when taking with the Google servers, allowing us to communicate with Google via IPv6, which we did previously, but in a new format that allows more fluidity in those communications.
