In light of the CMA announcing an investigation into ESS’ conduct and the restrictions they have attempted to impose on schools migrating their data to other MIS providers, Bromcom would like to take this opportunity to reassure schools looking to switch MIS that we are still here to support you.

This development follows Bromcom’s claim that switching to Bromcom MIS is ‘safe, authorised, and legal’, something ESS themselves claimed and submitted to the CMA in 2022, stating that Bromcom’s migration process was an example of a speedy and efficient solution for schools - https://bromcom.com/news/why-migrating-your-school-data-to-bromcom-is-safe-lawful-and-authorised.

Further information has now also been brought to light by Bromcom which shows that restrictions on data migration were spurious in the first place. A publicly available page on the ESS website states: ‘It would be naïve for ESS to assume that the SIMS database is not accessed via SQL.’

When switching from SIMS, Bromcom offers the safest, quickest, and most comprehensive scope on the market, with full transparency and communication throughout the process.

If you are looking to make the switch to a cloud MIS in the near future, you can read our full statement here - https://bromcom.com/news/migrating-from-sims-to-bromcom

One of the most critical factors driving today’s attendance epidemic is the decline in parental engagement since Covid.

Finding new ways to boost this engagement is critical to protecting children from adopting the negative view many parents now have of school and regular attendance, or this could lead to a further fall in attendance figures.

Check out our latest blog to find out what’s caused the drop-off in parental engagement, and how Bromcom is helping schools across the country restore it to pre-pandemic levels.

I know it's probably a No, but what are the chances this could be purchased and used as a standalone product?

I know it's probably a No, but what are the chances this could be purchased and used as a standalone product?

You are spot on Vikpaw, the answer is no!

The reason is wTimeTable developed ground up integrated with Bromcom MIS - meaning no walls, barriers and silos of data that you find in all other MIS and timetables with just a tunnel for data transfer.

This is new era timetabling for cloud age for collaborative timetabling!

Last week, the Government announced it was scrapping Ofsted's controversial headline grades. On the same day, Ofsted also agreed to a number of significant reforms set out by an independent learning review.

These sweeping changes will not significantly alter what inspections consist of but how inspectors carry them out, as well as how results are reported.

BromCommunity Spotlight

Room visibility in school diary

One of our members recently faced a challenge with room visibility in School Diary. Certain areas like the playground, school field, and meeting rooms were not appearing as available locations for events.

Other members quickly identified a solution: by checking the configuration settings under Config > Administration > Rooms and ensuring the diary configurations were correctly set up. Adjusting room booking settings in the cover section proved helpful.

Hi all,

The Teacher App has been updated with a new UI that will provide teachers with an improved user experience. Please note, that we are implementing a phased release of the new UI and rolling it out incrementally to our users.

Important: Teachers will need to update to the latest version of the app unless they have auto-updates enabled for all apps on their device settings.

The Teacher App has a new look and feel, and users will only see a few minor updates to the functionality.

  • Click here to access the Quick Guide with How To guides for the most used features.
  • Alternatively, go to the Help Centre to see the full How To guides.

Note: Access to the modules in the guides will be dependent on the user permission and school configurations.

What’s new?

  • The Teacher App features a new central dashboard – Modules, which replaces the previous Home page.
  • Teachers can quickly take the Fire Drill register directly from the new Modules screen by clicking on the newly added Fire Drill icon.
  • Several options in the Modules screen have been enhanced to provide an improved user experience.
