Newton Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Just checking I thinking the right things If a user logs on to the domain on thier laptop the domain policys are applied If then then go home and log on to the laptop using the cached user, the same policy is applied correct? (so if the schools proxy was set in the policy when they went home, it would still look for the schools proxy) Thanks
powdarrmonkey Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Yes. Policy objects are cached, so the policy that was in effect at the time is applied. Obviously if you change a policy it won't take effect on that machine until it is back in school.
Newton Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 Thanks thats excatly what I tought but management where tring to say different
elsiegee40 Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Perhaps the SMT were thinking about the laptop when it is connected to the school network from home? GPO cannot be updated without the laptop talking to its home server.
powdarrmonkey Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Tell SMT that you'll send said machine on a psychic course right away to remedy this defect
Newton Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 I though the next intel chip had an inbult psychic chip?
elsiegee40 Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I though the next intel chip had an inbult psychic chip? I'm not sure the chip will be compatible with Vista though... Crystal Ball technology is notoriously unstable!
powdarrmonkey Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 It has to be activated, in a similar way to Windows Product Activation. Must have the piece of paper from the course though, to be licensed.
powdarrmonkey Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Oh and Vista compatibility is practically nil, until you buy Crystal Ball Deluxe Edition, which will install but not run.
powdarrmonkey Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 I would just go for it, the next service pack tries to detect whether you're using AMD TeaLeaves but is known to be very unstable even so. (I've been rehearsing a youth theatre all day, can you tell?!)
