DalekSec Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Bit confused with this one, recently had a clear up of all sharepoint sites, as users were able to create their own. I've turned off users being able to create sites in the admin centre and in the classic settings section... logged in today to see a few new sites!!! Any idea how users are creating these and how to disable? I've double checked https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/manage-site-creation and i seem to have everything correctly set!
localzuk Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Are they Teams sites? Are users able to create Teams, or Groups? Those would both create sites I think?
DalekSec Posted August 4, 2023 Author Posted August 4, 2023 They do seem to be Team sites, so guessing need to stop users creating Teams then? so this : https://techlabs.blog/categories/office-365/stop-users-from-being-able-to-create-microsoft-teams ?
localzuk Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Yeah, that's the stuff. We have a group called "Teams Creators" that we add people to that are allowed to create them. Works well.
Roberto Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 Just be sure you read what’s affected carefully, this is around O365 group creation and a surprising amount of features use O365 groups in the background. We (not edu) ended up having to turn this feature back on but added a suffix to user-created O365 groups to make them manageable l
