Irish singer and activist Sinéad O'Connor has died at the aged of 56.

 

Coming to prominence in the 1980s, she went on to sell millions of albums and garner legions of fans around the world.

 

She was best known for her single Nothing Compares 2 U, which hit number one around the world.

Very sad and, as @elsiegee40 said, taken much too young. Nothing Compares 2 U is one of those songs that stays in my head due to where\what I was doing at the time.
