Kyle Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Do any of you deploy this software via AD. I need to deploy it to quite a lot of laptops in one go. Do any of you have a guide how best to do this?
Jon Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 The best way is to obtain a network deployment disc from promethean. I think that they will charge you around £25:00 for it. There is also a thread on here somwhere with instruction on how to deploy via msi, I did follow the instructions in the thread with variying results, but eventually procurred myself a copy of prometheans disc which i have had no problems with so far...
Kyle Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 Anyone else done this, I have checked the CD and there is a multitude of MSI options.
Jon Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Here is the thread I was referring to http://www.edugeek.net/forums/educational-software/7299-guide-promethean-activ-software-msi-conversion-steps.html As i said I have had varied results using this method. You would be better off in my opinion getting the network disc from promethean...
Jobos Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Surely the disk should be available for download on the website as a iso. Version 3 is a free download so charging £25 just because it’s the network version smells of greed.
Jon Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 I did mention this to promethean when I was attemting to get my disk... I am afraid I did't get any joy from them:mad:
Flightcrew Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 BEWARE installing ActivPrimary via servers. I installed is as a stand alone and then another tech installed id through the server. Result was when the server went down, ActivPrimary didnt work in any of the classrooms. Its a pain having to install as stand alone, but trust me, you really dont want teachers after your hide if they can't use the IWBs for a few days. (In this particular school's case, the server was out of action for three weeks.)
Guest Guest Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 I did it with teh downloadable stuff, no need to order a CD. IIRC the driver deploys as is and the studio only needs the serial adding to the msi/mst.
tosca925 Posted July 20, 2008 Posted July 20, 2008 Bugger, I have just paid £25 for the CD It failed to deploy first time but could be just me.
